Supply - For some golfers, playing 18 holes isn't as fun as it once was because of the pain and fatigue that can accompany a round of golf. On Thursday, April 17, from 2:30 to 4 p.m., Pat McCauley, a doctor of physical therapy and a Titleist Performance Institute Certified Golf Fitness Instructor, will offer a free seminar on how to reduce pain and enjoy the game of golf again.
McCauley leads Brunswick Community Hospital's new golf fitness program, which was launched in March 2008 as part of the hospital's comprehensive physical therapy program.
"Our treatment is primarily geared toward reducing your pain and improving your performance on the golf course," McCauley said. "Our goal is to get you back to the game you love."
The seminar - "Golf Fitness: Reducing Pain. Improving Performance." - is part of Brunswick Community Hospital's new Focus on Health program, a community health seminar series. The seminar, which is free and open to all ages, will be held in the Brunswick Electric Membership Corporation Community Room at 795 Ocean Highway in Shallotte. Light refreshments will be served from 2:30 to 3 p.m., and the program will be held from 3 to 4 p.m.
McCauley will share information on joint range of motion, muscle strength, muscle flexibility, swing evaluation and balance. He will also offer tips on proper posture to use throughout a round of golf.
Call (910) 755-1125 for more information on the upcoming seminar, or for more information on Brunswick Community Hospital's golf fitness program, call (910) 755-1267. All attendees will receive a free golf stress ball.
